MAKING NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS? Managing your weight with a healthy plate might be a good place to start! Your West Texas VA Health Care System Dietitians have information on how you can create a healthy plate to help you lose weight.
Key principles in weight loss are: use a 9 inch plate, make half of that plate fruits and vegetables, add lean protein, include some whole grain, and don’t forget some low fat dairy.
Also important to consider are: avoid extra fat, don’t skip meals, try new foods, and to slow down when you are eating.
