Did you know that My HealtheVet is more than just your Personal Health Record? My HealtheVet is your computerized health record that is available to you by just enrolling and establishing a secure access code. My HealtheVet allows Veterans to fill VA prescriptions, review notes in your health record, and allows you to communicate with your provider through secure messaging. Veterans are also allowed to view scheduled appointments, get VA Wellness Reminders and can view VA lab results.
If you are currently enrolled in My HealtheVet, congratulations! If you are not, please consider enrolling today by accessing: www.myhealth.va.gov. There a few simple questions to answer and then you will be allowed to set your access codes. Enrolled Veterans are encouraged to upgrade your My HealtheVet account. There are two ways you can accomplish this important step to Secure Messaging. In-Person Authentication (IPA) can be accomplished at the VA Medical Center or Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) where you receive your care. If you prefer, you can also go to Online Authentication while accessing My HealtheVet.
Secure Messaging is for VA Patients and their VA health care teams. It is an easy step to use online messaging system available through My HealtheVet. Secure Messaging is safe and secure because the messages you send and receive are all kept within My HealtheVet. Start using Secure Messaging today to discuss your health with your VA health care team. Secure Messaging should only be used for non-urgent, non-critical communication.
To get started, login to My HealtheVet, select the SECURE MESSAGING tab located on the red navigation bar, and then select the orange Open Secure Messaging button. When you open Secure Messaging for the first time you will be presented with Terms and Conditions for using this feature. Please take time to read this information. If you agree and would like to use this feature: select the radio button – I have read the Terms and Conditions and would like to Opt in. Secure Messaging helps you partner with your VA health care team, get a timely response to messages – within three business days, end phone tag and waiting time on the telephone and save gas and parking frustrations by decreasing unnecessary VA visits.
