At the West Texas Healthcare Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (DRRTP), the primary mission of the program is to provide Veterans with active residential rehabilitation directed toward the care of substance use and co-occurring problems, and the development of skills necessary for a productive return to community-based living. The focus is to prepare Veterans to function at the highest level of independence by building on their individual strengths and abilities while enhancing their quality of life experience.

Domiciliary care places strong emphasis on treatment and the rehabilitation of this condition. All phases of the program are related to helping Veterans maintain a healthy and sober lifestyle. This is a priority for healthy rehabilitation.  The Domiciliary staff is committed to providing accommodations for those in special treatment populations who require additional resources and needs. Motivation to attend and engage in the Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP) with full attendance to all groups is expected while being provided a safe and healthy environment of care.

Candidates for the Veteran Healing Center Program possess the following traits: 

  • Substance Abuse or
  • Addiction Issues
  • Not a Danger  to Self or Others
  • Not in Need of Close Supervision
  • Absence of Acute Medical Problems
  • Able to Function Independently
  • Desire to Engage in Recovery Activities
  • Willingness to Change
  • Treatment Program

Veterans are expected to complete Phase 1, 2 and 3 of the individualized treatment program totaling up to 120 days. The program will focus on the mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and social aspects of their lives. Veterans will attend educational groups, AA/NA meetings, keep appointments and complete assignments. Upon discharge, Veterans are encouraged to continue their treatment through the Substance Abuse Treatment Program aftercare services.
