West Texas VA Health Care System

Donations / Patient Needs List

The West Texas VA Health Care System operates a 40-bed Community Living Center and a Residential Rehabilitation Program, The Veteran Healing Center that houses 40 Veterans during their treatment. All in and outpatients depend upon the Voluntary Program for amenities, calling cards, house shoes, canteen books etc. Because of the remote area, calling cards are always needed. Additional needs include comfort items, canteen books, small tote bags, socks, tee shirts.

Donations

  • If you or your organization would like to support Veterans and the programs offered to them, please contact the nearest VA Medical Center.  Your desire to provide care and comfort for Veteran patients makes a major impact in providing necessities and amenities that might not otherwise be available.  If you provide a name and address, your donation will be acknowledged.

  • Monetary donations enhance VA Voluntary Service programs and support the programs or activities that assist in accomplishing the goal of “Putting Veterans First.”  Contact Voluntary Service at the medical center to find out what programs are in need of monetary contributions.  Please do not send cash.  Make checks payable to the VA Medical Center.

  • Other donations accepted include current reading materials, games, playing cards, puzzle books, note cards with postage on them, telephone calling cards, lap robes; personal comfort items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, shaving cream, lotion, combs, nail clippers, emery boards, sewing kits, etc.  Items such as mouthwash must be alcohol free.  Razors should not be included in individual kits but can be accepted in bulk.

  • We can no longer accept home made food items.
