By combining cutting edge technology with comprehensive clinical services, West Texas VA HCS Pharmacy Department continuously seeks new ways of improving patient care. Clinical services are provided in the following areas: Diabetes, Hypertension, Management of Lipid Disorders, Smoking Cessation, Geriatrics (Long Term Care/Home Based Primary Care), Anticoagulation, and New Patient Appointments. Examples of clinical services include pharmacokinetic monitoring, drug utilization evaluations, advising on appropriate drug use, and overall monitoring to provide optimal pharmaceutical patient care. The department is a national leader in the provision of video telehealth, providing innovative healthcare delivery that utilizes technological advances to overcome distance barriers to care.
